Starline Brass .45 S&W Schofield Brass 100 Pack

The .45 S&W Schofield is a historic revolver cartridge developed by Smith & Wesson in the 1870s for the Schofield top-break revolver used by the U.S. military. Closely related to the .45 Colt, it features a shorter case and a slightly larger head diameter, allowing for reliable extraction in top-break revolvers while retaining excellent ballistic performance. Today, it remains a favourite among Cowboy Action shooters, black powder enthusiasts, and collectors of historic firearms.

The shorter case provides reduced internal capacity compared with the .45 Colt, making the .45 Schofield particularly well suited to lighter target and competition loads. It can also offer increased magazine capacity in lever-action rifles chambered for .45 Colt. Shooters should note that the slightly larger case head may require minor modifications to some firearms, including extractor tuning on certain lever-action rifles or slight adjustment to the cylinder ratchet on some Ruger Vaquero and Colt revolvers.

At Hamilton’s Armoury, we back Starline Brass because it’s built with the same mindset we apply to everything we do — no shortcuts. With over 30 years of dedication to quality, Starline continues to produce premium brass for those who take their shooting seriously.

Note: The .45 Schofield has a case head approximately 0.010" larger than the .45 Colt and a shorter case with reduced internal capacity. This makes it ideal for lighter loads in many .45 Colt firearms, although some lever-action rifles may require extractor tuning and certain Ruger Vaquero and Colt revolvers may require a slight reduction in cylinder ratchet diameter to ensure reliable function.
